Nell Hand Embroidered Jute Windowpane Rug
Plaid on a natural rug is usually printed, and printed pattern on jute wears off exactly where you walk.
Nell's windowpane check is hand embroidered in bold black, worked into the rug during the weaving rather than stitched or glued on afterwards. It cannot rub off, because it is not sitting on top of anything.
The base is warm natural brown jute with 97% of the dark root fibres removed by hand, then flame finished for a refined surface and a natural shine.

- Embroidered during weaving. The black lines are part of the rug, not a surface print that wears away.
- Full premium cotton backing. Keeps the rug flat and stable with no bunching or curling.
- Flame finished. Loose surface hairs singed off for less shedding and a refined texture.
- Hand sorted fibre. 97% of dark root fibres removed, which is what gives the warm even brown.
- Smooth and substantial. At 0.43 inches it has weight underfoot without sitting proud of the floor.
The commonest mistake with a natural fibre rug is going one size too small, which leaves a room looking unfinished. Use the right hand column as your starting point.

Black on brown is the combination that stops a natural rug looking bland. It picks up black window frames, cabinet handles and light fittings, which is why it suits a modern farmhouse scheme so well.
It works in a living room, under a dining table, along a hallway, in a bedroom, or in an entryway where it will take the most traffic.

Vacuum with the beater bar off, or use a suction only setting. Shake the smaller sizes out.
Blot straight away with a dry cloth, working from the outside in. Do not rub the weave.
Turn it every few months so wear and sunlight land evenly across the rug.
Jute is a natural fibre. Wipe spills quickly and avoid soaking, which is what causes marks.
