Mica Hand Spun Jute Rug with Raised Diamond Trellis
Pale natural rugs are the ones people want and then talk themselves out of, usually because they assume anything light will look tired within a year.
Mica is woven from tight spun bleached jute, hand sorted so only the most desirable shades make it into the rug. The linen white does not stay identical forever, it settles into a soft ivory, and that patina is part of what makes a natural fibre rug look better with age rather than worse.
The raised diamond trellis is formed loop by loop during the weaving, which throws a genuine shadow and catches the light across the day.
- Loops woven, not applied. Formed on the loom as the rug is made, so the texture cannot pull away.
- Tight spun bleached jute. Hand sorted shade by shade, which is what keeps a pale rug looking clean rather than grey.
- Loom bound tucked edges. Bound during weaving rather than stitched on later, so the border will not fray.
- Sheds less, no lingering odour. Tighter spinning means less loose fibre and none of the damp hessian smell.
- Substantial underfoot. At 0.59 inches it is firm and textured, with real presence in a room.
The commonest mistake with a natural fibre rug is going one size too small, which leaves a room looking unfinished. Use the right hand column as your starting point.

Handcrafted, so allow up to 3% variation on finished dimensions. A 2' x 3' set of three is also available if you want matching mats for a kitchen or hallway.
Linen white and tan is the combination that lifts a dark floor. Against walnut or a deep oak it gives you contrast without introducing a colour you then have to design around.
It works in a living room, under a dining table, along a hallway, in a bedroom, or in an entryway where it will take the most traffic.
Vacuum with the beater bar off, or use a suction only setting. Shake the smaller sizes out.
Blot straight away with a dry cloth, working from the outside in. Do not rub the weave.
Turn it every few months so wear and sunlight land evenly across the rug.
Jute is a natural fibre. Wipe spills quickly and avoid soaking, which is what causes marks.
