George Premium Hand Spun Jute Braided Area Rug - Superior Golden Tone
Most jute rugs are spun from short, mixed fibres. They feel rough underfoot, they shed onto the floor, and the braid goes flat within a season.
George is spun from fibres twice the length of ordinary jute, which is the whole reason it feels different. The braid is wider and denser, so the rug carries real weight and reads as soft rather than coarse when you walk on it barefoot.
Every strand is hand sorted before spinning, with 97% of the dark root fibres removed. That is where the clean golden tone comes from, and why it looks warm and natural instead of muddy.
- Fully reversible. Flip it when one side has had a hard winter and you are effectively onto a second rug.
- Industrial grade edge stitching. The braid is stitched rather than glued, so the outer rows cannot work loose and start to fray.
- Sheds far less. Longer fibres and a tighter spin mean you are not vacuuming up jute dust every other day.
- Flame finished surface. Loose surface hairs are singed off, which gives it the smooth face and the natural shine.
- Lays flat from day one. At 0.39 inches it sits level on hardwood, tile or low pile carpet.
The commonest mistake with a natural fibre rug is going one size too small, which leaves a room looking unfinished. Use the right hand column as your starting point.

Handcrafted, so allow up to 3% variation on finished dimensions. A 2' x 3' set of three is also available if you want matching mats for a kitchen or hallway.
The golden neutral tone is what makes this one easy to place. It sits under oak and walnut without fighting them, softens a white or grey room, and gives a farmhouse scheme the natural texture it usually needs.
It works in a living room, under a dining table, along a hallway, in a bedroom, or in an entryway where it will take the most traffic.
Vacuum with the beater bar off, or use a suction only setting. Shake the smaller sizes out.
Blot straight away with a dry cloth, working from the outside in. Do not rub the weave.
Turn it every few months so wear and sunlight land evenly across the rug.
Jute is a natural fibre. Wipe spills quickly and avoid soaking, which is what causes marks.
