Dining chairs take more spills than anything else in the house. A woven, water-resistant stretch cover is quietly giving a lot of tired sets a second life. Here is what it is, which chairs it fits, and the four questions people ask before they try one.
A full dining set fitted with the Leaf Jacquard Chair Cover in Light Gray.
Most dining chairs do not get replaced because they break. They get replaced because they look tired.
The frames are solid. The legs are fine. But the seats have a mark that never quite came out, the fabric has faded, and every family dinner adds another drip of sauce or juice. So the choice looks like living with it, or spending hundreds on a new set.
There is a third option a lot of families have landed on: a woven stretch cover with a water-resistant finish that pulls over the chairs you already own, backrest and seat, in a couple of minutes per chair.
The photos show one style of chair, but this cover is made for a size range, not a single shape. Square, rounded, curved, slatted or upholstered, if your armless chair falls inside the measurements further down, the stretch fabric pulls the cover to its shape.
Shape does not matter. Size does. Question three below shows the five measurements to check. It takes about a minute with a tape measure.
It is the right worry to have. Most chair covers are thin, shiny and baggy. They sit on top of the chair rather than around it, and everyone at the table can tell.
This one is woven with a raised leaf jacquard pattern, so the fabric has real texture and depth. It stretches tight around the backrest and seat and follows the shape of the chair, which is what makes it look upholstered rather than covered.
The woven leaf texture is not just there to look good. It breaks up the surface, so crumbs, creases and the odd mark are far less noticeable than on a flat fabric.
In the softer shades like Light Gray, Cream and Taupe it reads as a subtle texture, not a loud print.
This is where most families feel the difference. The fabric has a water-resistant finish, so everyday spills like water, juice or a splash of sauce bead up on the surface instead of soaking straight into the seat.
Blot it with a cloth and it is gone. When the cover needs a proper clean, it comes off in a minute and goes straight in the washing machine.
Spills sit on the surface long enough to wipe away.
It is water-resistant, not a sealed barrier. Blot spills promptly and they wipe away. A large spill left to soak for a long time will eventually work through, so think of it as strong everyday protection for the seats underneath.
One universal size, made for most standard armless dining chairs. Measure your chair and check it against the ranges below. If it falls inside them, it will fit, and the stretch in the fabric takes care of small differences either way.
| Measure | Fits |
|---|---|
| Backrest width | 14 to 19 in |
| Backrest height | 18 to 24 in |
| Seat width | 15 to 18 in |
| Seat depth | 15 to 18 in |
| Seat cushion thickness | 1.5 to 4.7 in |
Measure the seat side to side and front to back, then the backrest from the seat to the top. Armless chairs only.

Will it fit my chairs?
If your seat is about 15 to 18 inches wide and deep, and your backrest is 18 to 24 inches tall and 14 to 19 inches across, it will fit. The shape of the back does not matter, only the size.
Does it cover the whole chair?
It covers the backrest and the seat in one piece. The legs stay visible.
Will it fit a chair with arms?
No. It is made for armless dining chairs. A chair with arms needs a different cut, and this cover will not sit correctly over them.
Will it slide when someone sits down?
An elastic hem pulls in underneath the seat and holds it in place. On a very slippery seat you may need to straighten it now and then, but it will not shift through normal use.
Is it fully waterproof?
It has a water-resistant finish, so everyday spills bead on the surface and wipe away. Blot spills promptly. A large spill left to soak will eventually work through, so it is strong spill protection rather than a sealed barrier.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then air dry or tumble dry on low. No bleach and no ironing. It refits in about a minute.
What if it isn't for me?
You have 100 days to try it at home. Every order is also covered by a 1-year warranty and our satisfaction guarantee.
