Nira Hand Spun Jute Rug, Raised Diamond Trellis
A flat rug does very little for a room. If the walls are plain and the floor is plain, the rug is the only thing left that can add texture.
Nira has a raised diamond trellis worked in looped yarn, and every loop is formed by hand during the weaving. Not stitched on afterwards, not glued. That is why the texture holds up instead of flattening or pulling away.
Every strand is hand sorted and shade matched before it is woven, with 95% of the dark root fibres removed for an even warm brown rather than a patchy one.
- Loops woven, not applied. Each loop is formed on the loom as the rug is made, so there is nothing to work loose.
- Hand sorted, shade matched. Strands are graded before weaving, which is what gives the even tone.
- Flame finished surface. Loose surface hairs are singed off for a refined face and a natural shine.
- Loom bound tucked edges. Bound during weaving rather than stitched on later, so the border will not fray.
- Substantial underfoot. At 0.59 inches it is firm and textured, with real presence in a room.
The commonest mistake with a natural fibre rug is going one size too small, which leaves a room looking unfinished. Use the right hand column as your starting point.

Handcrafted, so allow up to 3% variation on finished dimensions. A 2' x 3' set of three is also available if you want matching mats for a kitchen or hallway.
The raised trellis does the work here. In a room with plain walls and simple furniture it gives you pattern without colour, which is far easier to live with long term.
It works in a living room, under a dining table, along a hallway, in a bedroom, or in an entryway where it will take the most traffic.
Vacuum with the beater bar off, or use a suction only setting. Shake the smaller sizes out.
Blot straight away with a dry cloth, working from the outside in. Do not rub the weave.
Turn it every few months so wear and sunlight land evenly across the rug.
Jute is a natural fibre. Wipe spills quickly and avoid soaking, which is what causes marks.
